BKDF National de-worming Programme implemented in phases is committed to deworm school-going children between 3-10years and survivors of conflicts in the country.
According to the World Bank, in the complex world of education policy, some experts comment that school-based deworming may be the closest we have come to finding a “magic bullet.” In regions of the world with high worm burdens, such as Africa and South Asia, deworming children for mere cents a year results in an incredible range of educational and social benefits, from higher school attendance rates to healthier children who are better able to learn in the classroom.
The deworming exercise is accompanied with feeding the children before the administration of the drugs followed by community enlightenment on wash/hygiene. Our target is to reach 100,000 children in Kano, Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa state. Others are Niger, Cross River, Ebonyi and Ondo state. The first phase of the exercise which took place in Kano was flagged off by his Excellency, the executive governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on the 18th of March, 2018 at Garrun Mallam, where 1,000 children were fed and de-wormed.
