The second leg of the intervention in Kano held from January 14th to 19th 2019 was the concluding part of the exercise in the state. The implementation took place in worm endemic local governments according to statistics from UNICEF. The local governments are Bebeji, Kumbotso, Ungogo, Bagwai and Shanono. It was rounded at the Mariri IDP Camp on Saturday, 19th of January. The humanitarian intervention was a continuation of the de-worming exercise flagged off by his Excellency, the executive governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on the 18th of March, 2018 at Garrun Mallam, where 1,000 children were fed and de-wormed.
Part of the intervention team included officials of the State ministries of health, education and local government affairs, others are representatives from Kano Electricity Development Company (KEDCO) which donated bottled water for the intervention and community volunteers accompanied the team to the schools. The CBN corporate social responsibility department also sent representatives.
To achieve our target of de-worming 100,000 school children, our next intervention will be in the North-East states of Yobe (15,000); Borno (15,000) and Adamawa (15,000).
